Accomplishments

  • Created the Southern Willamette Valley Bean and Grain Project which has grown to 40 farmers, over 1000 acres, and has spawned two mills. Besides emergence of two new mills, the bean and grain project members created the first Fill Your Pantry event in Corvallis which is an event now found in Eugene, Forest Grove, Clackamas and Portland.

  • Partnered with farmers’ markets in Linn, Benton, and Lincoln counties to offer customers receiving SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps) an additional $6 to spend on local food when they spent their SNAP benefits at the market.  This was known as That's My Farmer (TMF) SNAP.
​
  • Launched That's My Farmer (TMF) Rx-- Oregon’s first fruit and vegetable prescription program (TMF Rx).
​
  • Held farmers’ market tours and promoted local foods at markets (TMF Tours).
​
  • Offered Cooking Matters, budget-conscious cooking classes, throughout Lincoln County.
​
  • Offered Seed to Supper, budget-conscious beginning gardening classes, throughout Linn and Benton counties.
​
  • Supported the establishment of the Lincoln County Indoor Farmers’ Market.
​​
  • Hosted film screenings and speaker series across the three counties.
​
  • Hosted community events to promote local food, including Food Day, Seafood Day, a coastal farm-to-table dinner, food preservation fairs, seed swaps, Chefs’ Show-off events, and Roots to Rivers, an event that highlighted the interconnectedness of land, water, and agriculture.
​
  • Created economic opportunities for farms and producers through annual Fill Your Pantry and Terra Madre Day events.
​
  • Convened farmers and growers in each county to discuss the design of our food web.
