Food Assistance
Local food shouldn't only be a reality for a small part of our community,
it should be affordable and accessible for people of all income levels.
Gleaners Groups - People who are able-bodied volunteers with low incomes gather crops, surplus or salvage foods and firewood to share fifty/fifty with adoptees. Adoptees are elderly and/or disabled individuals who have low incomes. Gleaners also share with food banks and agencies that sponsor group meals. There are fourteen different gleaning groups in Linn and Benton counties:
SNAP (Food Stamps) - A governmental assistance program, SNAP offers food benefits to eligible, low-income individuals and families. SNAP benefits can be used at any of our local farmers markets!
